COVID-19 Updates

We regularly review our Covid-19 Policies in conjunction with government guidance.


Staff and students are no longer required to wear masks in school, however, if they wish to wear their mask they are more than welcome to do so.

Regular Testing

Staff and students are no longer required to undertake twice-weekly asymptomatic testing.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

For most people, especially children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:

  • new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature and/or
  • a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If your child tests positive they will be advised to Adults with a positive Covid-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious.  For children and young people aged 18 and under the advice will be 3 days.

Contacts are not required to self isolate nor are they advised to take daily tests. Staff and students whom are a contact should attend the Academy as usual.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
