A letter from the Prince of Wales.
Three Year 7 students at North Durham Academy, Naeve Renforth, Emma Selwood and Alysha Young, sent a poem they were inspired to write after watching a film about a Holocaust survivor, to the patron of The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. They were delighted to receive a letter from his office at Clarence House, thanking them for their work.
Alysha Young said “We didn’t know about Auschwitz until we watched the film about a brave, inspirational lady, Iby Knill who made a promise to a twin to tell the story of their experiences.”
Emma said “It took her sixty years to tell the story but now we all know what happened in the camp.”
Naeve said “We enjoyed doing the poem and are very excited to have received a message from the Prince’s office!”
