Under 14's Futsal team are District Champions
The U-14 Futsal team won the Derwentside, Washington & Chester-Le-Street District championship last night!
In order to achieve this honour they had to play through a series of group stages involving 12 district teams followed by a showcase final.
The hard work and dedication of the players shone through as they controlled every match that they played; a total of 13 games. All in all throughout the tournament they failed to win only one game!
The victory was testament to the hard work that has gone into developing talented footballers through the school's elite football programme as well as countless hours spent honing their skills during lunchtime clubs.
Outstanding perseverance, determination and skill was on full display during the final. Park View were very worthy opponents and pushed NDA all the way to an exciting 8-7 victory. Park View were ahead at one point but the boys from NDA refused to give in and peppered the oppositions outstanding goalkeeper with shots. In truth the victory would have been far more comfortable without his performance.
It is almost impossible to single out players for their performances during the final as all were equally brilliant on the night. Jay Gibson and Ethan Hunter both scored hat-tricks and were extremely important to the teams domination. At one point Hunter slalomed through the oppositions defence to score a Maradona-esque equaliser that dragged NDA level. Other scorers on the night were Callum Lishman and Josh Brooks.
Manager Ross Thomas is full of praise for his side both as footballers and young men. The hope is that the boys will now take this domination into the 11-a-side game and translate their obvious qualities into their school studies too. Well done!!
