Fantastic Results for North Durham Academy Year 11 Students!
The Year 11 students of North Durham Academy have achieved yet another set of impressive results. Not only are students celebrating their individual successes, but the whole school is delighted with a set of results that continues to improve every year since opening.
This summer’s results have seen the number of our Year 11 students achieving five or more GCSE’s grades including English and Maths increasing once again.
GCSE English students achieved an impressive 63% A*- C grades with higher than the national average number of students achieving or exceeding their expected grades. Maths is also celebrating a 5% rise in the number of A*and A grades being awarded, despite a national decline in the number of top grades.
Other success stories include 94% of students gaining an A*-C in GCSE Spanish, as well as over 90% of students gaining A*-C in GCSE Biology and GCSE Chemistry. Our Performing Arts Directorate are celebrating after not only producing some breath taking shows and performances this year, but capping it all off with outstanding results this summer: Drama, Music and Dance all had A*- C pass rates over 80%, with Dance achieving a fantastic A* and A pass rate of 57%.
We are very proud of our Year 11 students, who were in fact our first Year 7 cohort when we opened North Durham Academy back in 2011. They have all worked extremely hard and deserve their success.
Among the students who were celebrating were:
Katerina Dubov who achieved 9 A*grades, 3 A grades and 1 B grade.
Joe Daglish who achieved 8 A* grades and 2 A grades
Sam Dawson who achieved 1 A* grade, 7 A grades, 2 B grades and 1 C grade
These GCSE successes are not the end of the story for our Year 11 students however, as we are delighted to welcome back a record number of Year 11 students back into our sixth form which continues to establish its reputation for excellent A Level results and progression on to top universities.
