House Formula One Roadshow
All students were invited to experience a carousel of events on Monday 18th April. The main event was the Remote Controlled Car Race. From January to April 2016, 25 students (5 per House) attended Enrichment in the technology and MVS areas, to design and make a remote controlled car. Warkworth won the race and won overall for car design, attendance to Enrichment and parking skills. There were prestige cars on display from Sunderland and Durham District Motor Club and 2 Stratstone Jaguar cars. Blue Watch High Handenhold, Beamish Fire Brigade demonstrated a car rescue reconstruction with student and staff inside. Mellors provided an exercise bike smoothie maker activity and the cherry on the top of the cake was a very busy ice Cream van. The event was sponsored by Tony’s Tyres, Tanfield, who kindly donated tyres for the race course, an engraved trophy and advertising banner.
