House Ready Steady Cook

For the first time in the history of the House system, Ready Steady Cook remained on home turf.  The decision was made to host the event at the Academy in order to boost student involvement in the event and add to the 25 representatives from each House. The heats ran from mid-February for 5 consecutive weeks, with 20 students from each house showing off their culinary skills in order to impress their Head of House and panel of staff judges and win a place in the final. This year, our students had to design their own 4 course menu along with the help of a professional chef, provided by our caterers Mellor's and cook it in real time on the night of the final for 80 hungry guests. Dishes included Chicken Satay, Katsu Pork and Warm Waffles. The event, which was filmed and relayed back to guests, was a 'mouth-watering' success and the feedback that was given by parents, carers, teaching and kitchen staff was extraordinary. All in all a very successful event and we will be looking to go even bigger next time round!
