Bethany Shaved Her Head in Aid of TCT!
On the Friday, 4 July Bethany Thompson, one of our Year 11 students, very bravely had her head shaved in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Bethany set a fundraising goal at £1000 and to date has already raised £1290, which is fantastic.
Bethany’s family and friends joined students and teaching staff as Bethany got her head shaved by her hairdresser in our main atrium.
Bethany said “I wanted to have my hair shaved off in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust because the trust not only helps give ill teenagers hope during their treatment, but also helps their families to ensure they have a normal life during this traumatic time.”
Mr Thornton, Principal said “We are so proud of Bethany. How many teenage girls would be prepared to take such a bold step in support of young cancer patients? Bethany is truly amazing and her courage outstanding. My own son was a cancer patient last year and received fantastic support from the Teenage Cancer Trust. For Bethany and the young people here at North Durham Academy to raise such a huge amount of money makes me incredibly proud, both as a parent and as their Principal, I can’t thank Bethany, her family and the students at North Durham Academy enough.”
Zoe Hull, Teenage Cancer Trust Regional Fundraiser North East and Cumbria said “We are impressed by Bethany’s determination to raise money for other teenagers who are living with Cancer. We would like to thank Bethany’s, everyone who has sponsored her and North Durham Academy for their support.”
