New College Durham Academies Trust comprises of two large Academies, Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham.  New College Durham, is our lead sponsor and both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley.

We are looking to appoint a number of Assistant Directors of Learning and Progress with specific areas of responsibility to help our newly appointed Executive Leadership Team raise achievement and attainment across the Trust.

Assistant Director of School – Consett Academy  

Salary: £50,490 - £57,123 pa

Applications are invited from inspirational individuals who can demonstrate effective leadership skills and a track record of improving progress and attainment in their area of expertise.  This role would be suitable for an excellent practitioner who is ready to be exposed to a wider range of leadership responsibilities. Perhaps someone who is on the journey to a Vice/Deputy Principal role in the future? 

You should be:

•    first and foremost an excellent teacher, who is able to demonstrate high expectations of students, coupled with a proven track record of successful leadership experience.

  • able to support the proactive and continual improvement of high quality teaching and learning across all subjects. 

•    able to assist the Director of School in effectively leading the development and management of the ethos and learning climate on campus; being accountable for the day to day effective operation of the campus.

•    able to lead and manage the pastoral and welfare teams on campus, including behaviour and safety and adopting a lead role in the provision of PSHEE and SMSC provision on campus. 

•    able to demonstrate a commitment to our values of Inclusion, Progression and Excellence.
