Elite Development Programme
The Elite Development Programme consists of two coaching sessions per week for selected students, who have a sporting ability, in trampolining, netball, basketball, football or rugby.
The programme aims to rapidly increase their rate of development across a one or two year time period. The estimated inclusion time within the programme equates to around 90 hours per year.
In each sport students will be coached by either; NDA staff for trampolining & football, qualified to at least Level 2; Rugby Football Union coaches; or Durham Wildcat coaches for basketball. Students will follow the weekly training plan highlighted outside the PE block.
As part of this intensive coaching programme selected students will be given the opportunity to purchase different kit to show their status as EDP students. They will be expected to wear this kit during coaching sessions and PE lessons where they will mentor their peers.
Students on the Elite Development Programme are expected to perform to the highest academic, behaviour and sporting standard throughout the Academy and be outstanding role models for other students. They are expected to show full commitment to the programme throughout the year and to treat it as an extra educational period at the end of the relevant day.
