How to Apply

We operate an open access and fully inclusive admissions policy and pupils from all backgrounds and abilities are welcome.

New College Durham Academies Trust is the Admissions Authority. The Trust will consider all admissions applications sent to them by the Local Authority (LA) and will apply the policy fairly and consistently to every application received.

For entry into Year 7, applications to the Academy will be made through the Local Authority. As a parent/carer you are required to complete the Common Application Form (CAF) which is available from the Local Authority. If you would like to apply for a Year 7 place at the Academy you should name North Durham Academy as your preference on the CAF.

How to apply online

There are three way to apply:

You can apply for a school place using the online system: Online School Admissions System.

Contact the admissions team on 03000 265 897 for a paper pack.

Email schooladmissions@durham.gov.uk to be sent an electronic pack. The deadline for application to secondary school is 31 October 2021.  Parents/carers will be notified of the child’s school place on 1 March 2022.

In Year Transfers

If you have recently moved into the area and are considering North Durham Academy for your son/daughter please contact us on admissions@ncdat.org.uk.  We will be pleased to discuss the process with you.

Waiting lists/appeals

New College Durham Academies Trust will maintain the waiting list. Positions on the waiting list will be determined solely in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. Where places become vacant, they will be allocated to children on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. In line with the DfE School Admission Appeals Code, confirmation that all appeals will be heard within thirty school days of the appeal bing lodged.
